The parts to replace the failing telephone equipment, which caused the telephone outage on Sunday, November 3 are on site and need to be replaced. The disruption of telephone service will be approximately 30 minutes while the equipment is being replaced starting at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, November 6, 2013.
The following telephone service will be functional during the maintenance window:
· All calls between on campus extensions will continue to work
· All calls from on campus extensions to off campus number will continue to work
· All calls from on campus extensions to a cell phone will continue to work
The following telephone service will be disrupted during the maintenance window:
· All calls from a cell phone to an on campus number, the caller will hear a busy signal and the call will not connect
· All calls from an off campus number to an on campus number, the caller will hear a busy signal and the call will not connect
From the Assistant Vice Provost for Information Technology:
This is to confirm that full university telephone service was restored about 1:15 am today.
Level 3, our campus telecommunications provider, performed the necessary temporary hardware replacement to restore telephone services at that time.
There is the probablity of a necessary permanent replacement to be scheduled briefly for early this evening, pending the shipment of parts.

Between late July and late September, crews pulled wires and installed more than 600 WiFi access points in the residence halls. The work was finally completed on September 27, and now all residents enjoy the convenience of high-speed ResNet Wireless access not only in their room, but also in nearly all residential spaces, inside and outside.
Golden Bear Village West* Golden Bear Village South: All Golden Bear Village South apartments now have 100% WiFi coverage. In order to provide WiFi throughout the apartment complex, wireless routers have been installed in the living room of every apartment. Whereas students living in other buildings will connect to the ResNet Wireless network, each apartment in Golden Bear Village South has its own network that students will connect to.

** Berks Hall: Wireless routers have been procured for every room in Berks Hall, but have not been installed. If you are a resident of Berks Hall and would like WiFi access in your room, you can pick up your pre-configured router from the ResNet help desk at anytime.The router can be plugged into any of the existing network jacks in your room. Whereas students living in other buildings will connect to the ResNet Wireless network, each room in Berks has its own network that students will connect to.
